Hello, my name is Kristin and I'm crazy about Scandinavia. Let's knit, bake, and play together!

Norway, 1983

Where to begin? Inspired by my Scandinavian heritage, I started collecting knitting patterns on a trip to Norway over 30 years ago (before I even knew how to knit). I was a poor college student back then and patterns were much cheaper and lighter to carry home in a backpack than sweaters.

Shortly after that, I began to design and knit my own Nordic sweaters, mittens, gloves, hats, and slippers. And I've never looked back. Hundreds of sweaters and a family of four patient sweater models later, I design, knit, write publish, and teach from my home in Salt Lake City. My patterns have been published in Laine Magazine, Knitting Magazine, and Harrisville Designs. I have helped thousands of people learn to love colorwork knitting.

I'm thrilled to see my tradition-inspired patterns being made and worn by knitters all over the world. You definitely don't need to be Scandinavian to knit Scandinavian. I love how creating timeless Nordic heirlooms by hand brings people of different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, and nationalities together. Making wintery stuff is fun!
