Venner Hat Pattern

Venner Hat Pattern

Venner means Friends in Norwegian. I thought that if I could give my little one any gift in the world, I would surround him/her with friends and family. That was the thought behind this little Nordic hat. This hat has a whimsical shape. It has a triple-thick brim to keep your little one warm for hours of outdoor play, ear flaps to keep those ears toasty warm, and a square top that playfully flops over. Its square corners are delightful with or without pompoms.

This little hat made me smile when I made it. And makes me smile when I see it toddle around. The pom-poms swing with every step.

I choose to make this hat in the softest yarn I could think of. The 3-6 month size takes every bit of 1 skein of the MC. You could knit the first 9 rounds in the CC to be safe, because it’s folded under and not visible, or you could buy an extra skein to make sure you have enough. Or buy 3 skeins and so you can make this hat in 2 sizes, because you will be sad when your baby outgrows this hat.
